I put a picture of U of P stadium up to make claim that it is called THE BIGG TOASTER cause BiggRedBird said so.
Lets go ahead and get into what matters in terms of a CB for the Arizona Cardinals and their improved defense. First off we know Ray Horton likes CB's that can tackle, and I have to agree. Most of the time the DE's and OLB's are responsible for setting the edge against the run. In some cases containment is broken and the secondary is left to make the stop when teams decide to run the ball. Sure tackling CB's also mean a better chance of the opposition not having a good YAC (yards after catch) stat line at the end of the game. Although we have the best safety tandem in the league, we still need CB's that can hit. We lost Richard Marshall who had 63 tackles to the Phins. Enter William Gay.
Amongst DB's, excluding safeties gay ranked 9th in the league among CB's in tackles with 46 solo tackles. He does add a winning factor as well. According to advancednflstats.com William ranks 10th out of 164 DB in winning percentage added to the team. He is a winner folks. At 5-10 190 he certainly has the size the Bigg Red is looking for. I see him as our nickle back once Greg Toler returns. Although he is middle of the road in passes defended at 14 which is as many as Ed Reed he is a sure tackler that can be used in blitz situations and run support. In 2009 Gay had 70 tackles so this is a guy is capable of a high tackle output
One of the main reasons our defense became a top ten defense is the NFL the last 8 or so games of the season is because of sure tackling and hopefully that will continue.
