If Cardinals fans thought the selection of Justin Bethel was puzzling, they will be even more confused by the selection of San Diego State quarterback Ryan Lindey. Lindley is a very similar type of prospect that our very own John Skelton was a few seasons ago: big arm, stand tall in the pocket, good size, and great durability. All of these factors don't make the selection any easier to justify as Cardinals fans.

If no other pick had convinced you, the selection of Ryan Lindley proves the Cardinals BPA draft strategy. The cardinals already have three quarterbacks on the roster in Kevin Kolb, Skelton, and Rich Bartel. Unfortunately for Bartler, the selection of Lindley likely means Bartel will not be on the roster after preseason.
Lindley is a very good prospect. He has a great arm and has had plenty of seasoning as a four year starter at San Diego state. Again, much like Skelton, Lindley tends to force throws into coverage, and doesn't have very good touch on his passes, but if he can develop his arm Lindley could be a good quarterback in the league.
I guess that Cardinals realize they don't have a sure fire QB on their roster and are planning on just throwing everything at the wall, and seeing what sticks. Maybe Lindley will turn into the next Tom Brady? All we know is the Cardinals aren't 100% sold on the three QBs on their current roster.
