Is Rashad Johnson A Liability In The Secondary?

I think we can all agree that Mr. Johnson is in his make-or-break season with the Cardinals. If he doesn't step up this year, I think he will be out. Last season, we had Richard Marshall come in for the bigger 3rd down plays at safety, which seems to indicate to me that the coaching staff does not fully trust Johnson. Do you? .....

In the 2011 season, Johnson played in all 16 games and recorded 50 total tackles with 40 of those coming solo. He also had 1 fumble recovery and 1 pass defensed with 0 INTs and 0 sacks. These numbers are a slight upgrade over his 2010 numbers (although he had an INT in '10), but this makes sense with his increased playing time.

I may be missing it but I do not recall seeing him make any WOW plays in 2011 in which he impressed me.....although, unfortunately, I do recall the following play:

First off, I feel terrible doing this, linking to the site of my most hated football team in the universe, but I stumbled across this while searching for more information about the Mike Wallace vs. Patrick Peterson square off last season. I came across this write up with screen shots that clearly shows AW screaming and indicating and Johnson to get back in coverage, which he didn't, lost support over the top, and gave up that big 95 yd. TD to Wallace.... watch AW telling RJ to get back in the following link.....

Dude, Johnson... Get Back!!!

He was pretty well regarded coming out of the SEC but I still have yet to see anything that convinces me he's a special player, or could be a viable 1st team DB. And, to be honest, I feel like he's at time a liability back there.

Maybe I'm missing some great plays he's had, but up until now I haven't really been impressed. What's your opinion on RJ.....
