Well this is a quick, short, to-the-point post, but didn't see mention of it on here, so thought I'd share. Our very own 13 year Cardinal, Steve Keim, just got a raise which will hopefully keep him on our roster for years to come. For the specifics, hit the jump....
Keim, employed by the Cards as a Scout in 1999 has been slowly climbing up the proverbial career ladder within our organization:
1999 - Hired as a Scout
2006 - Promoted to Director of College Scouting
2008 - Promoted to Director of Player Personnel
2012 - Promoted to Vice President of Player Personnel
As some of you may remember, he was courted by the Rams in the off-season for their GM position. Obviously that's a big jump, so there is still a chance that next year other teams could try to snag him, but I'm hoping that his steady progression up through our organization, will help keep him here.
I feel the Cards have done a great job drafting the past few years and I'm hoping it continues in the future with Steve staying on the team.
In related news,T.J. McCreight, former Director of Pro Personnel left to Indianapolis, and Jason Licht, former 2008 Cards employee, returns to the Cards to fill the now-vacant Director of Player Personnel slot.
Jason's career arc is a little more back-and-forth working in Miami, New England, Philly, a year here (2008), then back to the Patriots.
In regards to the Jason Licht hiring, Steve indicated: "Having the ability to have worked with him before, to know his strengths, it’s huge in terms of the overall organizational picture."
I personally am very excited to have Keim still with us, and with this raise, hopefully a Cardinal for the next foreseeable future. Do you think this raise will be enough to keep him here, or do you think other GM vacancies will begin to come knocking? Thoughts on the Licht hiring?
