Kevin Kolb does not deserve to be the first string QB and possibly does not deserve to be on the team at all. I believe actions speak louder than words and tonights game vs Oakland speaks volumes.
I am particularly unimpressed with his tendency to 'freak' when his first option is not open. Tonight he was praised for staying in the pocket, but that doesn't mean he wasn't freaking out...he was just doing it while standing still and subsequently taking a shalacking from the Raiders D. The blocking and inability for the WR to get open were blamed for him getting sacked (and taking 2 safeties although 1 was not called) over and over again. That is nonsense, On one play he was hit almost simultaneously by 4 rushers.
Question- When is the last time you saw Brees, Rodgers, Brady, etc. get sacked by 4 guys at once...never. Kolb's problem is he doesn't know WTF is going on. The QBs above recognize it before it happens and audible or get the ball out quick. That is the difference between Kolb and many other QBs...one of which being John Skelton and the freakin' rookie Lindley. In my opinion he should be cut and keep the other 3. I know they spent the money but that is done and you can't get it back. They will probably make him second string, and if Skelton goes down, bring him in looking for an excuse to take him out and play the 3rd guy. I hope for the Cards sake Williams and Beanie can carry this offense or it may be an ugly season.
