Nowhere in this will i mention Kevin Kolb or John Skelton.......oh crap.... Well no more. I am actually going to talk about our Linebackers. We all know that our down linemen are usually far superior to most offensive line down linemen. Now running a 3-4 alot of pressure relys on our Line backers.
-Paris Lennon was an excellent line backer last season but was not a great blitzer. He was good a read and react line backer making sure tackles but didnt make plays like i remember Karlos Dansby making behind the line of scrimmage. I am hoping that he is still able to split time with Stewert Bradley this year... more on that later....
-Darryl Washington is a stud. I think his greatest strength is is pass coverage abilities. He can run with the best TE in the NFL but is still an average run stopping line backer. He is going to get paid very soon and it is nice of A-dub to make that happen because he wants to keep this d around for a while.
-Stewart Bradley had problems getting on the field last year. Part of it was he was making a transition to 3-4 for the first time. I also think that Paris played at a superior level then the coaches even thought he would play. I would like to see Stewart get into Nickel and Dime situations this year because I think he can run better than Paris can at this point. He looked good in the preseason so far....(one game mind you)
-Sam Acho's knowledge of our scheme is what makes him special. He isn't the best pass rusher in the world but he knows how to use the scheme to his advantage. He is a smart player is will be out of position very rarely. I think he will get better with time but I don't think he will be the team leader in sacks again.
-Ironically Brian O'Schofield is the exact opposite of Sam Acho. He is a special talent on pass rushing but his lack of knowledge on the scheme is what gets him into trouble and out of position on basic plays. He has trouble getting off of blocks by bigger linemen to make tackles but at the same time will blow by them to get to the QB. I think he will develop into a good player as he picks up more and more the overall concept of the D.
Thats it, Who do you think will be the team leader in sacks this year?
