When Kevin Kolb entered the game a significant portion of the fans in the stadium booed. After the game there was significant outrage to the booing and the timing. I don't think it was all bad. More after the jump
We as fans are entitled to certain rights as both Americans and consumers of the product being put out on the field. The right to express our opinion in the way of boos is most certainly allowed. I want to state that I was not one who booed but who I was with was. Am I any more right for reserving and holding back my disgust for Kolb entering the game than my friend. No, I am not. My friend was disgusted and chose what many view as an inoppurtune time to express opinion. That opinion though was shared by many. No one faults someone for complaining about bad service at a restaurant even if a server suffers some kind of emergency. We as consumers don't care. We want the most bang for our buck. With Kevin Kolb fans do not feel like they are getting their bang for their buck. We all have a vested interest in the team. Many of us ride or die with the wins and losses. Most of our fans though disappear with the times get tough. After the Superbowl run we gained a larger fan base and these fans much like the fans of our cities other pro sports teams we do not have the patience for futility. Our fans finally spoke up to the ownership, management, and coaching staff about their desire to not support a product led into futility by someone we perceived as a lesser QB.
Now the timing was admittedly poor, but it was a knee jerk reaction for most. The PA announcer said the name Kevin Kolb and verbal diarrhea happened for most. The thing that disgust me though is this attack upon our fans by our own fans. We are supposed to be a cooperative community. We are trying to foster a great fan base that doesn't disappear when the losses pile up. Ostracizing fans and attacking them on an online forum does not accomplish this. Also I have seen some result to similar behavior for that they are criticizing. Name calling and acting those who did boo are somehow classless is not productive to building the fan base. It is juvenile. If you don't agree with the booing express yourself in a mature manner. Remember that you are talking to grown adults who need not be talked down to or insulting. Explain why you think it wasn't indicative of what our fans should portray. We all need to remember Kolb is our QB and that now there are no internal battles for position but a fight for first and we support all who are in the Cardinal Red. If someone chooses to boo at a moment. Let them boo and hold it in your mind at least we are and they are showing passion for what is being given to us as consumers and fans. We could always go back to the days when the stadium is filled with fans of the opposing team.
