Only one week into the regular season, and the Arizona Cardinals are changing personnel on the practice squad. They signed cornerback Greg McCoy and releasing corner Larry Parker, who was a rookie free agent that the Cardinals.
Who is McCoy?
McCoy (5-10, 178) spent the preseason with the Chicago Bears who drafted him in the seventh round (220th overall) of the NFL Draft out of TCU. He was released by the Bears on August 31. McCoy started all 13 games as a senior in last year and had 32 tackles (25 solos), two interceptions and a team high seven passes defensed. He was the Mountain West Conference Special Teams Player of the Year after averaging 30.6 yards per kick return (37 returns for 979 yards) with two touchdowns. For his collegiate career, McCoy played in 51 games (28 starts) and had 92 tackles (71 solos), seven interceptions, and 17 passes defensed to go along with 52 kick returns for 1,505 yards (28.0 yard avg.) and three touchdowns.
