With a Week 1 victory under their belts, the Arizona Cardinals and get no rest. They now face the Super Bowl runnerrups. New England Patriots. This is by all accounts great measuring stick for the team. The defense, which the team believes is one of the league's best, faces a team that has one of the most prolific offenses, led by one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time in Tom Brady.
Such a matchup has led players to show a lot of respect. For example, defensive lineman Darnell Dockett, who is one of the most likely players to talk trash, was almost reverent towards the Patriots.
He tweeted this on Thursday:
The patriots might be the best team I've ever played against. #12 is a legend. This will be a tough game.
— DARNELL DOCKETT (@ddockett) September 13, 2012
Granted, it was not too long ago that Docjkett and a few other teammates were embarrassed in Foxborough in the snow -- and that was even with Kurt Warner leading the team. Dockett probably remembers that.
But he is right, The Pats might be the best team the Cardinals has ever faced thus far. They will travel to Green Bay later this season, so at the end of the season, the Pats might not even be the toughest team they play this year, but for now, Dockett is probably right.
He is taking the right approach with his comments. Show the necessary respect, and then give everything you have on the field. Hopefully that will be enough and the team can somehow come away with a win.
