The Cardinals are coming together very nicely. I said prior to the Eagles game, that if the Cards won, they would emerge as a total team and the new contenders on the block. For the first time in years, Arizona fans have reason to feel confident in their team.
This team has emerged intact, but they are still fledglings. I believe, in the next few weeks, Ken Whisenhunts team will begin to stretch their wings and prepare to fly. The Offense needs to present a ground game that does more than eat clock. I can see this Offense beginning to earn respectable yardage, with the run game, this Sunday. Miami is the perfect crash dummy to practice on. They will be soft up the middle due to injuries and the Arizona OC should be able to come up with a game plan to take advantage.
Confidence is the name of the game and the Defense is wearing it well. It is time for the Offense to round itself out and gain the same confidence, Run! Run! Run! A balanced Offensive attack, ending in a resounding victory, will begin that process, and the successive weeks should install the needed confidence into the O.
The schedule favors the Arizona Cardinals by offering up better competition in each succeeding week. If the Dolphins allow themselves to get run over and picked apart, I see the Cardinals Offense maturing and growing in effectiveness.
St. Louis, Buffalo and Minnesota will serve well as tune up matches, prior to "The Dog Fight In The Aviary" on MNF versus the SF Forty-Niners, the defending NFC West Champs. This is shaping up to be the hottest contest for this NFL season. The Cardinals should be more than ready to play smash mouth Defense and present a balanced Offense to make this an NFL Battle Royale for the Division Crown.
This is stuff dreams are made of. That is, dreams of NFL fans. Did I mention, I'm lovin' it!
