The site wastes too much space with redundant links, random images, and even blank, empty voids. I spent a few minutes using MSPaint to point out what I do and do not like about the page as it is right now, and did a little mock-up showing something fairly similar that would be preferable (for me) to look at daily (minus all the random jagged MSPaint-isms).
Here are a few screenshots of the existing content on the website with comments about what doesn't work in each one (look for the blue or gray text).
What follows is a quick cut/paste hack-job I threw together with the crap I don't care for removed or changed around a bit.

Another option could be to change the "Trending NFL Topics" and "Popular Topics" pic-link bars that break up the page with horizontally-oriented Fanposts & Fanshots bars. This would meet the criteria of staying relevant to the blog and could save a lot of vertical space in the sidebars section.
Non-Cardinal stories really bug me, even stories to different NFL teams, but I get that SBN is trying to promote cross-blog traffic. Perhaps a better way to do it would be to personally tailor those external links to popular or new stories on other SBN blogs that each user has already subscribed to, rather than randomly dropping links about MMA or PGA Golf. To me, it's a lot of fluff that I have trained myself to ignore.
I don't want this to come off as an attack or a mutiny, but this might be a good chance for others to point out what bothers them about the website (colors, fonts too hard to read?). Voice your opinion and give a Rec if you agree with something in the thread and maybe we can promote positive change.

My feelings about the SBN re-design and ROTB layout are as follows:
I am happy with the layout and would like to keep it the way it is. (2 votes)
Overall, I prefer the mock-up. (16 votes)
While I'm not sure the mock-up is the answer, I agree with some of the problems. (10 votes)
Everything sucks, I just want it the way it used to be (by selecting this option I acknowledge that I understand it would be impossible to revert to the old layout). (4 votes)
