The Arizona Cardinals revealed Sunday evening that CIncinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden will get an interview for their vacant head coach position. On Monday evening, AZ Central's Kent Somers reported that the interview would happen on Thursday.
Gruden has two years experience as a coordinator and previous to that he was a coach and player in the Arena League and also worked with his brother Jon Gruden.
Gruden's Bengals were eliminated from the playoffs on Saturday when the Houston Texans defeated them 19-13. Gruden's game plan was criticized when he did not keep with success in the running game and also because receiver A.J. Green did not get involved in the offense until the second half.
Gruden would be the third candidate to be interviewed. The Cards have already interviewed Ray Horton and Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy, while Andy Reid was named as a candidate but never interviewed. Todd Haley has been brought up but has not been interviewed.
