The face of the franchise defers to the Halloween mask. Trick or treat ?
Darren Urban reports on twitter. Larry Fitzgerald says; " I'm not the face of the franchise. Big Red is the face of the franchise ". I questioned Larry's leadership last week with regard to the struggling passing game and when I read that quote today; it struck a cord with me.
I recall watching the Cardinals Vs. 49ers on Sunday and seeing Larry on the bench kicked back while Palmer was up communicating with players on offense. I recall specifically zooming in on the patches on their chest with the C on it. Larry's was gold with 4 stars under the big C. Palmers was silver with 1 star under it. It got me thinking that maybe the main problem on offense, is leadership.
I am wondering who is the leader on offense. Based on the comments by Larry from previous games. He's deflected ownership from the problems on offense. And now; he's come right out and said "I'm not the face of the franchise". Based on Palmers comments in his interviews; he speaks that "we" got to take care of this and "we" got to get better. By the language and actions of both on the field and off; our problems on offense have a leadership problem.
Your best and highest paid wide receiver as well as your veteran starting quarterback need to step up as leaders and start owning these problems. And I don't know about you; but I don't like my franchise player coming out and saying he's not you're franchise player.
