Arizona Cardinals reportedly trade Levi Brown to the Pittsburgh Steelers

The Arizona Cardinals have traded Levi Brown to the Pittsburgh Steelers

In a shocking change of events the Arizona Cardinals have reportedly traded Levi Brown to the Pittsburgh Steelers. This coming on the heels of GM Steve Keim's saying that Brown had had his best game of the year against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Reported by Darren Urban of AZCardinals.com, Bradley Sowell will start in his place with Nate Potter as the backup. Brown's salary was $4.75 million this season and was a candidate to be cut this off season due to his contract signed under the former Cardinals GM Rod Graves. Sowell's salary for the year is $480,000.

According to Paul Calvisi, the team was prepared to simply release him. Mike Jurecki reported that Brown's starting job was on thin ice. Instead of benching him or cutting him, they made the move, as the Steelers actually have worse offensive line problems than the Cardinals.

This marks the second time in the last three years a first round draft pick has been traded away by the Cardinals. Dominique Rodger-Cromartie, The Cardinals 2008 first round draft pick was traded to the Eagles for Kevin Kolb. The traded included a second round pick.

Conditions for the current trade are unknown and Urban doesn't expect much in return. Considering that Eugene Monroe, starting LT for the Jacksonville Jaguars is only netting third day picks for the Jaguars, it is likely Arizona is getting something similar in return.

Guess Levi isn't elite after all.
