Wednesday came and went, giving us the first injury report of the week for both the Arizona Cardinals and the Atlanta Falcons. Both teams are a bit banged up, although the Falcons did get running back Steven Jackson back in practice. As for the Cardinals, just a day after head coach Brice Arians said that he might hold receiver Larry Fitzgerald out of practice a day to get him 100 percent, the star wideout was a full participant.
Arizona had four players that did not practice. Guard Earl Watford was in a car accident and sat out with a sore knee. Guard Daryn Colledge sat out with his sore back that took him out of the game last week. Running Rashard Mendenhall (toe) stayed on the sidelines Wednesday, as did linebacker Matt Shaughnessy.
After that, a few were limited in what they did during practice. That group included receivers Jaron Brown (ankle) and Brittan Golden (hamstring). Running back Alfonso Smith was limited with a hamstring. Linebacker Karlos Dansby (quad) and defensive tackle Alameda Ta'amu (hip) also were limited.
The two that were listed with injuries but were full participants were Fitz and defensive lineman Ronald Talley.
Of course, the first thing that some people will note is that there are two injuries to the running backs. That gives Ryan Williams a chance, at least for now, to be active on gameday.
As for Fitz not sitting out, Arians said "at this point it is up to (Fitzgerald)" how much he practices. It sounds like that has always been the case, honestly. The coaching staff must not like telling the receiver no.
Running back Steven Jackson, out for the last while with a bad hamstring, returned to practice for the first time, but was limited. Jackson intends on playing Sunday.
