Fitzgerald for Peterson Straight Up

Would you do it ?

Adrian Peterson offseason trade speculation reports got me thinking. Would I trade Larry Fitzgerald straight up for Adrian Peterson. Minesota has been rumored to have been interested in trading their franchise pass rusher in Jared Allen, before the trade deadline. It is clear they have thrown in the towel on the season and with Christian Ponder and with Josh Freeman. Meanwhile, the Cardinals were rumored to be interested in doing something with Larry and his giant contract in the offseason. The difference is that the Cardinals are poised to make 2012 a strong showing.

There are interesting ties to these two players. Larry has a strong relationship with the Minnesota community, fan base and Vikings organization. Larry holds his infamous summer workouts in Minnesota. Regarding Adrian Peterson; it is widely understood that Keim wanted Adrian Peterson over Levi Brown. Now with Levi Brown, I think Keim finally has his chance to get what he wanted all along. Kind if like Bush Jr. starting a wars in Iraq to go after Sadam when he had unsuccessfully lobbied his father to do do. Is it possible that we could not have Levi Brown and have Adrian Peterson all before the 2013 season ?

It is. But your going to have to kill two birds with one stone. Your going to have to trad Larry Fitzgerald for Adrian Peterson. Considering the diminishing value of RB value it may or may not be a wise move though. Here are some contract comparisons:

Adrian Peterson is signed thru 2017 and averages about 15 million a season.

Larry Fitzgerald is signed thru 2018 and is owed approximately 18 mil, 21 mil and 18 mil over the next 3 seasons. Approximately 15 mil a season the final two years.

If there was ever a trade made for each other, it would be Larry Fitzgerald for Adrian Peterson.

Do you think the Cards should shock the football world and make this trade ?
