Cardinals vs. Jaguars preview: Stats, history, connections and more

Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

A look at some things behind the two teams heading into Week 11.

The Arizona Cardinals are in Florida will seek to avoid becoming the second and only team to lose to the Jacksonville Jaguars at Everbank Field. A win for Arizona means they will be 6-4 and remain right in the thick of the NFC playoff race. A win for the Jags means matching their 2012 win total with six games in the season remaining.

Here is a look at some pertinent information heading into the game.

Stats:

On offense, both teams struggle. The Jags have the league's worst offense overall and the Cards have the 27th best,. Arizona has scored 187 points, while the Jags have scored 115. Jacksonville has scored a total of 11 touchdowns on the season, none at home. Conversely, Jacksonville has given up 36 touchdowns. They have allowed 31 sacks. One thing that the Jags have done better is avoid interceptions. They have thrown 14 this season, which is one less than the 15 the Cards have thrown. However, Jacksonville is a -5 in the turnover ratio, while Arizona is -1.

Defensively, Arizona has the 13th best unit in total yardage, including third against the run. The Jags defense is 28th, but 13th against the pass. They are dead last against the run.

This will be a matchup of two first-year head coaches. Bruce Arians is 5-4 for Arizona and Gus Bradley, formerly the defensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks, lost his first eight games before getting a win last week against the Titans.

Arizona, who won in Tampa Bay in Week 4, seeks getting a second win in Florida in the same season. It is something the team has never done in its history.

History:

This is the fourth game between the two clubs. Arizona is 1-2 against the Jags, having won their last game played in 2009 (31-17). in that game, Kurt Warner set the NFL record for completion percentage in a game, going 24/26 passing.

Connections:

Cardinals receiver Brittan Golden was briefly a member of the Jags, spending the last two weeks of the 2012 season on their practice squad.

The Jags have three former Cardinals. Receiver Kerry Taylor was on the team's practice squad and on the active roster parts of 2012 and this season. Cornerback Jamell Fleming was the team's third round draft pick in 2012. He was cut by Arizona in September. Receiver Stephen Williams was a member of the Cardinals in 2010 and 2011.
