The Arizona Cardinals will start Week 10 at 4-4. Currently, that is not good enough to make the playoffs, assuming the season ended today. as of today, the Cards would be the NFC's ninth seed.
Here is what the current race looks like now:
1. Seattle Seahawks, 8-1
2. New Orleans Saints 6-2
3. Green Bay Packers 5-2
4. Dallas Cowboys 5-4
5. San Francisco 49ers 6-2
6. Carolina Panthers 5-3
7. Detroit Lions 5-3
8. Chicago Bears 4-3
9. Arizona Cardinals 4-4
That is correct. The Panthers and Lions, both of whom the Cards have beaten this season, are ahead of them. In fact, Carolina would make the playoffs as the final wild card.
While this is not an exact science, it does show that it will take a projected 10 wins to make it to the postseason.
Can the Cardinals pull that off? It would almost assuredly take at least one win in the final two games of the season, when they travel to Seattle and then host the 49ers to close out the regular season.
