Arizona Cardinals kicker Jay Feely has been named the "NFC Special Teams Player of the Week" for his performance in last Sunday's 37-34 overtime victory at Tennessee.
Feely kicked a game-winning 41-yard field goal in overtime to beat the Titans, his third field goal of the game and the 11th game-winning kick in his career. Of his 11 career game-winners, seven have come in overtime, making him one of just eight players in NFL history with 7+ career overtime field goals. Six of Feely's 11 game-winners have come during his four seasons in Arizona, including a 27-yard field goal to beat Tampa Bay in Week 4 this season.
Feely's selection marks the second time in as many weeks that a Cardinals player has been chosen as "Player of the Week." LB John Abraham earned defensive honors following the Cardinals Week 14 victory over St. Louis. It is also the third consecutive year the Cardinals have had back-to-back selections as Calais Campbell (Defensive, Week 2) and Larry Fitzgerald (Offensive, Week 3) and were honored in 2012 and Patrick Peterson (Special Teams, Week 9) and Fitzgerald (Offense, Week 10) were selected in 2011.
After collecting 13 points against the Titans on Sunday (3 FGs, 4 PATs), Feely now has 110 points for the season. It is the ninth 100-point season of Feely's career and fifth in the last six years. He has reached 100+ points in three of his four seasons with the Cardinals.
This is Feely's third career selection as Special Teams Player of the Week and second with the Cardinals after he was previously honored in Week 14 of the 2010 season. His first career selection came in Week 7 of the 2002 season as a member of the Atlanta Falcons. It is also the 21st time in team history that a Cardinal was selected as Special Teams Player of the Week.
Feely becomes the fourth Cardinals player to be selected as "Player of the Week" this season following CB Patrick Peterson (Defensive, Week 4), QB Carson Palmer (Offensive, Week 12) and Abraham (Defensive, Week 14). The Cardinals four selections this season are the team's most since 2009 (seven).
