2014 NFL schedule: Arizona Cardinals opponents set with third place schedule

Christian Petersen

The team now knows what teams they will face next season.

Heading into Week 17, the Arizona Cardinals had already been set as third place finishers in the NFC West. The type of schedule they would play in 2014 was already determined, but who the actual third place opponents had to play out.

Now that the games are done that matter for Arizona, those opponents are set.

In 2014, aside from playing the NFC West teams both at home and on the road, the division is set to play the NFC East and the AFC West. The Cardinals will also play the third place finishers in the NFC North and NFC South.

Because of their loss to Minnesota, the Detroit Lions ended up in third place in the North. The Atlanta Falcons and Tampa Bay Buccaneers both lost, so they remained in third and fourth places. Atlanta will play Arizona in 2014.

These are the home and away breakdowns:

Home: Rams, 49ers, Seahawks, Eagles, Redskins, Chiefs, Chargers, Lions

Away: Rams, 49ers, Seahawks, Cowboys, Giants, Broncos, Raiders, Falcons

This means that, for the third year in a row, the Cardinals will play Philly, Detroit and Atlanta. It is the third straight year that the Lions will come to University of Phoenix Stadium.

What are your initial reactions to the 2014 opponents?
