This season is totally dependent on the arm of Carson Palmer.
The Defense is there, the play calling is there, the targets are there. The problem is, the QB is not there.
The Cardinals loss to the Eagles can be directly traced to poor throws by our quarterback. His long passes float, flutter and fall short. Why?
His intermediate and short passes are a bit lacking in zip but are acceptable (not exceptional) in accuracy . When I watch most other NFL QBs, I am a bit jealous when I see frozen rope passes deep in the secondary and low trajectory long bombs to receivers in stride.
Is he lacking confidence in his receiver's speed? Is he afraid of an over throw? Is he lacking the arm strength? I am not sure what is going on here, but the Palmer experiment will apparently continue for the remainder of the season.
I am hoping to see more confidence and much more zip on the ball when it leaves his hand, in the coming games. If he can not pull it together by the end of this season, I am all for finding a replacement.
A full season, with the caliber of talent in our receiving corp, should be more than enough time for a veteran NFL QB to perform at his highest level. If this is the best he can do and all the fans can expect, it is not good enough. This Arizona Cardinals team is capable of being a top five NFL team with a good NFL QB.
What do you guys think of Carson Palmers performance so far?
