The Cardinals Can Be Contenders With Division Wins

Going .500 Makes or Breaks The Cardinals Season

The Cardinals are 7-5 right and have thrown away games against St. Louis, SF and Seattle. With 4 games left to go, you would think they could win at least one more game on the season giving them a .500 record. That's really no big deal though.

What is a big deal though is;3 out of the next 4 games are against divisional opponents. The Cardinals have been shutout in their first three games against division opponents and now have a chance to draw even. If the Cardinals want to be considered contenders and not pretenders, they must go 3-0 in the division over the next 4 games. This is what will make or break the season.

This is how the Cardinals can go 3-0 in a division and make the playoffs with a little help.

Beating the Rams at home.

Beating the Rams at home this Sunday will require that the Cardinals play their best defensive game of the year and take their most conservative approach yet on offense. Now is the time that we need Mendenhall, not Palmer, to perform at a high level to negate the rush and control the game.

Beating Seattle on the road.

After a pit stop in Tennessee, is the Seattle Seahawks. Beating the Seahawks will require some creativity. Creativity on defense; the Cardinals must figure out how to get hits on Wilson early and often. I suggest forcing Wilson to beat you with his legs and not his arm. Give him an avenue to run early, then lay the wood on him. They need to literally beat the backyard playmaking ability out of Wilson early in the game so they can play football later. A banged up Wilson is a containable Wilson. On offense; the Cards will need to have their best game of the year. Pull out all the stops. Trick plays to keep Seattle's defense off balance and jumbo packages to negate Seattle's pass rush. Most importantly. Do not turn the ball over.

Beating the 49ers at home.

With a little help, it is hopeful that the Cardinals will be playing the 49ers in the last game of the season and with a wild card spot on the line. The Cardinals showed they can play with the 49ers earlier in the season. In order for the Cardinals to beat the 49ers, they must physically dominate them with another strong defensive performance start to finish.

It is that time of the year where seasons are made or broken. The Cardinals are in position to make or break their season with 3 crucial division games ahead of them. With a 49er and/or Panther loss this weekend and a Cardinal win, the Cards are right back in the hunt but the Cardinals must go .500 in the division to remove the pretender tag and dawn the contender tag.

How can the Cardinals beat the Rams,Seahawks and 49ers to finish .500 in the division ?
