It seems the draft pundits think the Cardinals choose to upgrade their offensive line come April.
Another week, another NFL mock draft update. This time, we have collected more than a few from around the web and the choice seems to be pretty unanimous. While the Cardinals could go with a quarterback or even a defensive player given the depth at the position in this draft, most believe Arizona chooses to upgrade their offensive line.
Luke Joeckel may be off the board by the time the Cardinals pick at #7, so that would leave them with Eric Fisher from Central Michigan. Fisher, as many pundits have noted, might even be the best tackle in the entire draft this year. So let's take a look at who thinks Fisher is coming to the desert.
It starts with Charley Casserly of NFL.com. In his video, he says the Cards will take Fisher, allowing Levi Brown to be moved back to right tackle. But if that is the case, what happens to Bobby Massie? Massie played quite well down the stretch last season and might even wind up being a better overall player than Brown. We will see if Casserly's prediction comes true.
Next, former Chiefs GM Scott Pioli is thinking along the same lines. That is followed by Bucky Brooks, who thinks Fisher will be the guy. He states that Fisher's athleticism and quickness will fit in perfectly in Cardinal Red.
Brian Billick, former coach of the Baltimore Ravens, tends to agree. He thinks Fisher gets picked by the Cards at #7 and immediately get placed at left tackle. As does Rob Rang of CBS Sports. Rang even goes as far as to say that Fisher would be a steal at seven because he is worthy of a #1 overall pick with his talent.
Our very own SB Nation has Fisher falling to the Cards as well. As writer Matthew Fairburn notes, the difference between Luke Joeckel and Fisher isn't all that great. Walter Football thinks the same thing.
Finally, we get to where the picks vary a little bit. Will Brinson over at CBS Sports believes that Luke Joeckel, a tackle from Texas A&M, falls into the Cards' lap. That would be very fortuitous for them.
Lastly, Dane Brugler of NFLDraftScout.com and CBS thinks the Cards decide to address their QB problem by taking Geno Smith from West Virginia at #7.
What do you think? It's beginning to look more and more like the Cardinals will be going with Eric Fisher this April.
