San Francisco almost comes back from 22 points down, but in the end they fall just short.
The San Francisco 49ers lost the Super Bowl for the first time in their franchise's storied history. The Baltimore Ravens jumped on the Niners early, taking a 28-6 lead just after halftime, but the Niners battled back to within five points and then first and goal with two minutes left in the game. The could not get the winning touchdown and the Ravens became the world champions, winning Super Bowl XLVII 34-31.
Quarterback Joe Flacco was named the game's MVP. Receiver Jacoby Jones scored two touchdowns, one on a 56-yard pass play from Flacco, and the other was a 108-yard kickoff return that started the second half.
Despite a more than 30 minute delay in the game when half the lights went out in the stadium and a furious rally by the Niners, Baltimore held San Fran off and gave linebacker Ray Lewis a win to end his storied career.
