2013 NFL Mock Draft: After free agent signings, Arizona Cardinals grab top pass rusher

Stacy Revere

In latest projections, Arizona picks up this year's premier pass rusher.

After a week of free agent signings, the Arizona Cardinals have addressed some of their needs. They signed who could be their quarterback, although Drew Stanton, if anything, is unproven. They did not address the offensive line. This would logically mean that it should be at the top of their needs come the NFL Draft in April.

As such, the most recent SB Nation mock draft accounts for the first week of free agency. In Matthew Fairburn's latest projections, Luke Joeckel is gone by pick number seven. So is Eric Fisher. So is Geno Smith.

Do the Cardinals grab Lane Johnson? Chance Warmack? Nope.

According to Fairburn, they take a pass rusher, and the best one in the draft, landing LSU's Barkevious Mingo.

"Offensive line and quarterback are the two biggest needs for Cardinals, but pass rush isn't far behind," he writes. "Barkevious Mingo represents the best player on the board at this stage."

Interestingly enough, in this mock, Mingo is the first of three straight pass rushers to get taken. Lane Johnson lasts to number 11.

What I find most interesting about this mock is the Arizona could their Von Miller, whom they coveted so in the 2011 draft. They do not regret at all their selection of Patrick Peterson, but had Miller been there still, he would be terrorizing QBs for Arizona and not for Denver.

Now, the question is whether you would rather have Mingo, or if you would rather see the Cards draft Dion Jordon or Jarvis Jones.

So now what do you say? Is Mingo the next Von Miller or Aldon Smith? The Cardinals would hope so.
