The Arizona Cardinals, along with the rest of the NFL, are currently in the middle of the "legal tampering period" leading up to actual free agency. Teams can contact agents, but cannot contact players or have visits. In this period, the Cards have apparently turned their attention to running back Reggie Bush.
Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio suggested that the Cardinals would be "a team to watch" with Bush, and then USA Today's Mike Garafolo reported that the team "has contacted Bush's agent to show interest in the free-agent-to-be running back, according to a person with knowledge of the communication between the sides."
Arizona currently has Ryan Williams and Beanie Wells under contract, and they have tendered qualifying offers to exclusive rights free agents William Powell and Alfonso Smith; however, the team needs better play out of the position.
The team's interest in Bush is surprising, but it was something I hoped woruld happen. Maybe I'll get my wish.
I would imagine that if Bush ends up here we would see Beanie Wells let go. Arians has already expressed excitement about Ryan Williams. A running back group of Williams, Bush, Powell and Smith would not be too bad.
Will it happen, especially with the Detroit Lions also after Bush as well? We will see.
