Okay okay okay... I know. Last year my post for the beginning of the year (http://www.revengeofthebirds.com/2012/5/19/3031507/2012-az-cardinals-rob-houslers-year-for-the-taking) expressed euphoric hope for a break-out season by #84. I did note, naturally enough, that it depended on a number of factors, most notably more consistent QB play, which obviously turned out to be a complete joke last season, as did our Offensive Line, which was another conditional statement.
I am once again going to express euphoric hope that with a new coaching staff that loves to utilize tight ends, and a quarterback who knows how to run and, more importantly, manage, an offense, Rob Housler will see his catches go up and his touchdowns go up. I am even willing to bet that by the end of the year, people start picking him up on their fantasy team.... I know I'm going to. The mismatches available now with Floyd starting to come on stronger (assuming he can tighten up his routes) and Palmer to deliver the ball to Fitz and start to loosen up coverages.... oh man. I'm way more excited to see what Housler can do this year than I was last year. Last season's hope was built upon a foundation of sand... this year I'm not saying that we have an obsidian house or anything. This year I think that Housler will truly start to come into his own with the tools that have been added thus far. That is my pre-draft assessment. If we add the kind of O-Line talent that may be there, and if Mendenhall and Ryan Williams can at least produce at the same level of capability that was there last year (bearing in mind that with NO passing game to speak of, the running game was similarly decimated), then I don't think it's crazy to imagine that we could go at least 9-7 or 10-6 and squeak our way back into the post season.
