You know, I get the philanthropic aspects of Arizona Cardinal players like Larry Fitzgerald helping out the citizens of Africa with hearing aids and water sustainability. It's the right thing to do.
I also get players trying to make a buck on selling their signatures at collector events. They have to stay away from the poverty line point, of course. (Would have hated to see Kurt Warner IN the soup line as opposed to him SERVING the line.)
But what I don't get, or maybe can't see the connection, is some of the locales or causes that some Cards are doing.
Example number one: Current Card Fitz along with former Cards Roy Green, Derek Kennard, Seth Joyner among others, will be at the Phoenix Sheraton a week from Thursday (hurry get your tickets now) ww.prweb.com/releases/proplayerhealthalliance/tacklingsleepapnea/prweb10478342.htm promoting awareness on Obstructive Sleep Apnea, with a "Tackle Sleep Apnea" campaign.
Now, I'm not about to criticize any Cardinal player that has his heart in the right place and supports this cause, cuz I'm sure they have a reason behind it. And I'm sure this is a serious health issue.
But, I've fallen asleep many times during Cardinals games during the past few seasons and maybe, just maybe, there is a cure for people who can't stay in slumber - just watch the QB's performances since Warner left and that should just about do it. Just a guess.
Then, you have the opportunity to get Patrick Peterson's autograph next Saturday.
At Uncle Bob's Self Storage. http://news.yahoo.com/arizona-cardinals-patrick-peterson-appear-uncle-bob-self-090220040.html;_ylt=AwrNUbGXf2dR3nwA9KzQtDMD
Once again, I'm sure this is a good cause for both Peterson and the the self proclaimed "largest operators in the United States with more than 450 self storage facilities in 25 states". Patrick gets some benjamins to help pay for the food Tyrann Mathieus has been eating while staying at his home and the company get's enough publicity to be placed on A&E's "Storage Wars".
Even the storage guys put out a public snippet: Patrick is one of the most exciting players to watch in the NFL, and we’re looking forward to him for stopping by,” said Don Favreau, Area Manager of Uncle Bob’s Self Storage Phoenix storage facilities. “We know how much the Phoenix community loves the Cardinals and we are thrilled to be involved.” I mean, what more can you expect?
Just makes you wonder though, when Darnell Dockett will be signing at the Maricopa County Sheriff's Phoenix Zoo crocodile exhibit while raising awareness of public showering.
