Let's go mock a draft

I am torn between several players in the early rounds, and I think we could pick up an extra 4th rounder maybe for Hoyer, to alleviate his contract hit of $2 Million to be a 3rd stringer.

So round 1...
Lane Johnson... for obvious reasons. We will need to bulk up the line to protect our veteran pig skin slinger. I once advocated for Geno at this pick, but picking up Palmer has change a lot in my mind. Johnson was noted as possibly being the best tackle coming out of the draft a few years from now. He's got amazing athletic talent, and great size. He would be a great LT for the Cards.
or... Dion Jordan. Need an additional pass rusher. He's got experience against the read option, which is what we will be dealing with at least 4 games a year. If he falls to 7, it would be a greaet pick up. He's got great size and versatility. He could line up as an OLB.

In Round 2...
If we go with Johnson with the first, I'd like to see Alex Okafor. What can I say about him? He's a great pass rusher with good size... so enough said.
If Jordan is the pick at 7, I'd like to see Barrett Jones in the second. He's a very versitile lineman. Can play just about any position on the line. But I'd also like to see Larry Warford... great guard prospect. Can patch up the revolving door at the guard position.

Round 3...
Jonathan Cyprien, a great run stopper and has the ability to shut down tight ends sitting at strong safety. Losing A-Dub was harsh, and he left some big shoes to fill.

Round 4...
Bacarri Rambo, hard hitting free safety and good in coverage. He's got some character issues, but he's shown that he wants to excel at the pro level. Will need to learn to wrap up instead of going for the big hit.

if we can trade Hoyer for another 4th rounder... Chase Thomas at OLB would be ideal. He's got great versatility, playing all over the Stanford defense last year. Pretty awesome at rushing the passer as well.

Round 5...
Chris Gragg or Kyle Juszczyk... Both can play the H-Back position. They can provide some help in pass protection, and have the ability to go downfield and catch the ball.

Round 6...

Jonathan Bostic or Vince Williams at ILB. Need some youth and some temporary assistance since D-Wash is out for the first 4 games of the season. These rookies can stand to learn behind some veterans.

Round 7 ...

Rex Burkhead as RB. He's a willing blocker There are durability concerns and he will need to work on strengthening to provide better pass protection.
Another pick I'd like to see here is Lawrence Okoye at defensive end. Great potential, great athleticism.
For a third stringer QB, we could pick up Jordan Rodgers as an UDFA.
Well that took a little heat of the excitement for the draft. Just threw my 2 cents out there, since there are a bunch of pennies on the ground already. Have a nice day.
