CBS Sports New Power Ranking Has Arizona Cardinals Rising

Admittedly, CBS's Pete Prisco is an Arizona football fan. At least, an Arizona State Sun Devil fan where he attended and graduated.

But assuming he is unbiased - he had the Arizona Cardinals making the largest leap in his new power ranking poll and the biggest jump by far - it could be a fortuitous boding for the team, regardless of supposed unfettered cheerleading.

Originally, the Cardinals were listed at 28 on the CBSSportsline chart, four slots from the bottom. After the draft and free agent period, Prisco moved the team up to 21st - with the 7 pegs up being the greatest by a large margin (NY Giants were the next highest leaper with 4 slots) - but still fourth in the NFC West Division.

Explained Prisco about the jump: "I am starting to like what I see in Arizona. Getting Carson Palmer will be big for this team. There is talent around him."

Interesting to me, only the Lions and Eagles were NFC lower rated teams than the Cardinals, the other nine clubs were in the American Football Conference. Most NFL fans have long thought the NFC WEST was going to be tough, but Prisco seems to assert that the whole conference will be stacked- which means probably tiebreakers needed for the playoffs.
