2013 NFL Draft grades: Even more high marks for Arizona Cardinals, many different picks praised

Bob Donnan-US PRESSWIRE

Another trio of writers likes what general Steve Keim did.

As has been the case for a few days, I have found yet another set of Arizona Cardinals draft grades. This time, it is a trio of writers from Fox Sports. Jen Floyd Engel, Alex Marvez and Pete Schrager all chimed in about the picks the Cardinals made last weekend.

Between them , they gave the Cardinals a pair of B's and an A.

Floyd Engel called what the Cardinals did and "pretty damn close" to a miracle and that Tyrann Mathieu is a first round talent that fell to the third round. She gave the Cards an A

Marvez (B):

"They addressed their woeful OL with one immediate starter at No. 7 overall (Jonathan Cooper) and by adding another guard, Earl Watford, during Round 4. When it comes to Mathieu, they are hoping: A) He can convert to safety after playing cornerback at LSU; B) The presence of close friend Patrick Peterson can help keep him away from the off-field trouble that has plagued him."

Shrager (B):

"The selection of Mathieu dominated headlines, but I liked the team's first two selections of Cooper and Kevin Minter far more. I'm not sure if Mathieu is a corner or a safety in the NFL, but I know Cooper and Minter can contribute right away. Arizona added to a solid core this weekend. Unfortunately, they're still far behind the three teams ahead of them in the NFC West."

What surprises me is how often I am reading things about Watford. I had never heard of him before and wondered about him when the pick was made. Then again, it may have simply been because the Cards selected a second guard in the draft.

Mathieu looks like he will make an impact somewhere and the Kevin Minter pick is more and more significant pending the result of the investigation.

The consensus? Keim killed it in his first draft as GM.
