Plenty of Talent Still Out There

The NFL is a young mans game. Only the best make it deep into their 30's and the greatest into the 40's. In a recent article on azcardinals.com, the Cardinals shaved, 3.9 years age wise, off of last years roster. We made the youth movement that many fans wanted during Ken Whisenhunts tenure, but had to wait for Bruce Arians. However, even with this youth movement, fans still have their concerns, primarily at safety. There's still lots of talent out there who have a few seasons left of decent work left in the tank, here are a few.

Charles Woodson: Cardinal fans have their questions about the secondary. The loss of Kerry Rhodes, Greg Toler, and Adrian Wilson hurt fans, and had us questioning where we were going on Defense. Charles Woodson sits at 36 years old, but some of his best years have come in the last few years, especially in 2009, when he won NFL Defensive Player of the Year. We have an elder safety already with Yeremiah Bell to start opposite of Rashad Johnson, but the addition of Woodson would add strong veteran leadership and a nice rotational player.

Karlos Dansby: He is the guy I am most eager to have return to Arizona, however I am in the minority. He was not expected to return to Arizona in his career, but now is a good time to try. We have a new regime in the desert, and Todd Bowles who Karlos Dansby has a connection during their years in Miami, although Bowles coached the secondary and Dansby is a backer. However... This is all on the potential that Daryl Washington is in a lot of trouble, with the potential to be released, or suspended by the NFL/team.

Dwight Freeney:

Bruce Arians had nothing but praise for Freeney when he was asked about his time as Interim Head Coach with the Colts, saying Freeney was a big reason he was able to do his job. While we do have talented players at both defensive end positions, it's a wonder why Arians has yet to make a call to the veteran player.

Those are three guys out on the market who should demand reasonable contracts, yet be productive. The likelihood they are signed is slim but if need be they are there.
