Arizona Cardinals mini-camp: Michael Floyd suffered hamstring injury

The team, though, is just being cautious right now.

At Arizona Cardinals Fan Fest 2013, I noted there was one noticeable absence from practice, that being second year receiver Michael Floyd. He worked out a little bit on the side, but did not appear to be seriously injured at all.

He wasn't. According to head coach Bruce Arians, it was a hamstring that got tight on him on Monday.

"We're going to be very cautious with him because he's had a great spring," said Arians about his young receiver. "We're not going to take any chances with that."

Smart move by the team, as they will be counting quite a bit on Floyd this season. We are still a little over a month away from training camp. Now is the time to err on the side of caution with any injury. Plus, it allows the scores of young receivers the team has in camp to step up and show what they have. As noted in an earlier post, Jaron Brown and Kerry Taylor have been a couple to step up. They were the number three and four receivers for practice on Tuesday, and they have seen time in Tempe on the main field.

Hopefully this injury is nothing but a typical football injury and that he gets better and there is no issue with it heading into camp or the season.

Update, Wednesday afternoon: Floyd was back practicing in full on Wednesday morning. seems they were just giving him one night off.
