Difficulties of pulling a Colledge.... (switching sides on the offensive line)...

Jeff Hanisch-US PRESSWIRE

Most people think that what Daryn Colledge is doing on the offensive line is such an easy transition. Most people say he is playing the same exact position just 8 feet to the right of where he was last year. In theory that may be true, but it still takes time to learn everything backwards from the way it was learned before.

I think he is a smart enough player that he is going to be able to do it this coming years with no issues as he is a professional and he is going to have a guy (Nate Potter, I'm guessing) behind him to push him to learn it or they will cut him.

Something as simple as left or right. When we were calling plays on of the first things that would be said for us is left or right and that would let us know the way they wanted the line to line up. Well that meant if I were a strong guard (guard that is usually lined up with the TE on that side of the center, which is what Colledge is becoming) i would line up differently than the weak guard would.

I know that was is a stupid example, but Colledge is always been playing the same way for 15 years probably... he knows blitz pickups, the proper stance, audible calls, and it is all second nature to him. Most of the time he doesn't even need to think about stupid little crap and concentrate on calls and making the right play for the formation.

If you want a real world example of how hard this is. Write your name down on a peice of paper just like you normally would ten times. Then Sign it with your normal signature like you normally would again ten times. You have been doing this your whole life the same way. Now change hands and do it the same way with the other hand........

Hard, isn't it? This guy is in the NFL and is learning to write with his other hand. Think about that before going nuts on the guy later this year when he makes a mistake....
