Which Arizona Cardinals player would hit home runs?

Norm Hall

The team's Twitter feed posed the question. Here are some answers that came in.

Well, you definitely know it is the offseason when the Home Run Derby creeps into football discussion, but that is what happened on Monday afternoon. Before the annual homer hitting competition, the Arizona Cardinals official Twitter account asked the relevant question:

There were a whole bunch of responses. Fan and followers tweeted saying that it would be Darnell Dockett, Daryl Washington, Patrick Peterson, Tyrann Mathieu, Ryan Williams, even Daryn Colledge and Ronald Talley. Head coach Bruce Arians and strength and conditioning coach John Lott even got mentions. Calais Campbell was mentioned, and logically so because he does hit a homer after every sack.

The boldest tweets came from players themselves. Undrafted rookie safety Javon Harris had this to say:

He wasn't the only one. Daryn Colledge, after being mentioned by a fan, tweeted #noquestion to the thought that he would be the best on the team.

Patrick Peterson responded to Harris' claim.

Of course, Arizona Sports 620 reporter Kyndra de St. Aubin confirmed that Peterson could be the guy, as she has seen him take batting practice.

Another undrafted rookie safety also chimed in. This time it was Tony Jefferson.

One fan suggested that linebacker Colin Parker would be the guy, saying that he watched him play ball in high school. That makes sense.

One of the most nominated players was Larry Fitzgerald. I don't buy it. We have tape on him. It isn't pretty.

While Peterson probably is the most gifted athlete on the team, I personally would have to go with players that actually played baseball. I would give that nod to Parker or Jefferson, and perhaps Harris, if he did play at all.

Is it at all pertinent? Certainly not, but it is a little bit of fun to think about.

Who would be your Cards home run pick?
