The Cardinals own two #1 spots and two #3 spots thus far in the grading period. Tackle has always been a problem for the Cardinals, and whilst things are looking up for them, there are still plenty of questions.
Name | Age | Year |
Levi Brown | 29 | 7 |
Bobby Massie | 23 | 2 |
Nate Potter | 25 | 2 |
Jamaal Johnson-Webb | 23 | R |
Paul Fanaika | 27 | 4 |
Joe Caprioglio | 23 | R |
Massie during weeks 9-17 allowed ZERO sacks, a massive improvement from his first eight weeks of the season. Potter was a solid fill in at LT when D'Anthony Batiste was finally replaced against the Packers. Brown is coming back from a triceps tear and a lot of players have difficulties recovering from such an injury. Other than those three, and they are likely to be the only OT's on the roster there are plenty of questions surrounding the rest. Webb is a UDFA and likely to not hit the field for a season.
Name | Age | Year |
Anthony Davis | 23 | 4 |
Joe Staley | 28 | 7 |
Carter Bykowski | 22 | R |
Kenny Wiggins | 24 | 1 |
Luke Marquardt | 23 | R |
There's a reason why the 49ers have such a strong run game. Staley and Davis are monster tackles. Davis is one of the best RT's in the NFL without a doubt. Outside of those two, I know of Bykowski, haven't read much into him, and I know of Wiggins. I am going to assume that a lot of the players on the O-Line are moveable because carrying two veteran tackles, who can albeit stay healthy, is never a safe plan.
Name | Age | Year |
Russell Okung | 25 | 4 |
Breno Giacomini | 27 | 6 |
Mike Person | 25 | 3 |
Alvin Bailey | 21 | R |
Michael Bowie | 21 | R |
Jake Bscherer | 25 | R |
Looking at the top two guys, I like it. Giacomini is one of those guys you root for, based solely that he was an underdog. Outside of that, very little experience. Person has been around but hasn't played in a game.
Name | Age | Year |
Jake Long | 28 | 6 |
Rodger Saffold | 25 | 3 |
Chris Williams | 27 | 5 |
Joe Barksdale | 25 | 3 |
Sean Hooey | 22 | R |
Ty Nsekhe | 27 | 1 |
Terrell Brown | 24 | R |
Long and Saffold are again top notch tackles and Williams provides good depth. A good young unit, seems to be the case for the Rams thus far, except this time these guys have proven themselves. Long has questions about durability, but I think he's an excellent acquisition for the Rams to add a top tier guy with solid depth behind.
The Rams win this category, Seahawks second, and the Niners third because they have no one officially listed, (yes there are probably guys at other positions) to back up Staley and Davis.
I won't say Arizona is horrible, because there is some talent there, but Massie has to show he's grown and matured, Brown has to show he can return from the triceps tear and Potter has questions surrounding him still about his strength.
