Five Positives from the 12-7 Win over Dallas

Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

It may have looked ugly but there were plenty of bright spots.

While watching the game, the ghost of Cardinals past was obvious. Defense shines, but the offense falters. 2012 was quite obvious in this game. It's still early in Preseason but many fans had to have been upset watching the offense move the ball into scoring position, only to not be able to punch it in. However, there were positives and plenty of excitement for the things to come.

1) Tony Jefferson:

Jefferson when he was signed as a UDFA by the Cardinals drew a lot of discussion among the fan bases. He had a good career at Oklahoma and many were surprised he was not taken in the first seven rounds. He did however remain quite during OTA's and for the first half of Training Camp, until this week. He was the topic of a lot of good coming from this weeks highlights in training camp and that progressed onto the field where he recorded to interceptions, and made several big tackles. Twitter was abuzz and he's a guy several key sports writers in the valley have as a option to hit Practice Squad... Although it's not a risk I would take if he continues to impress.

2) Jasper Brinkley:

Brinkley had himself another solid night recording two fumble recoveries. Once after the Lance Dunbar fumble, and the other following the Dez Bryant fumble. He's fighting to fend off Kevin Minter as Karlos Dansby seems very likely an instant starter.

3) Turnover Party:

This coincides with one and two but the defense does not appeared to have skipped a beat with Todd Bowles running the unit. The Cardinal defense forced five turnovers all game, a special teams contributed one more. Cardinals finished the night at +5 turnover differential.

4) Run Game Solid under Mendenhall:

No he did not break off huge yards, but on seven carries he ran for 32 yards, with a 4.6 average YPC. It is far from a polished product, but there is hope for it to be really good.

5) Zero Points in Seven Quarters:

I'm not saying we crown ourselves, it very well should have been eight shutout quarters. However, it speaks volumes about how much the players have bit into the new scheme.

What do you, my fellow ROTB'ers, say?
