I've been confronted by a whole lot of people who seem to think that preseason games do not matter at all - to this I say, "you obviously don't know what you're talking about." Siting teams that have went 4-0 in the preseason and gone 0-16 in the regular season is all well and good, and I don't believe that a preseason record is in any way indicative of a team's regular season record...but to site that statistics in preseason games have no correlation with regular season games is being naive...and I'll let someone else, who's crunched the numbers explain to you why...
To be fair...I found this one as well that says otherwise...
On the flip side, I'm seeing a ton of articles while doing research that say that preseason really means nothing...the catch is that none of them really have a statistical breakdown...so whether you believe it or not that preseason and regular season performance are actually related, is up to you. People are saying both - but the articles above are the only ones that I saw with real statistical analysis.
Either way, I don't really care about the preseason record, because it doesn't count anyway, but I believe that performance in the preseason shows you something about the players and how good they can be during the regular season...if not, THEN WHY THE HELL ARE WE ALL TALKING ABOUT WHAT THEY ARE DOING?!
