I am so pleased at how this pre-season game turned out. I think this is the best thing that could have possibly happened to the Cardinals.
I have said it, time and time again, Football is a game of attrition. "BOO-HOO! Somebody got hurt!" Deal with it boys and girls. That is why God gave us GMs, and we happen to have a very good one. I, for one, am not worried. I'll just relax and allow Keim to do his thing.
As for the game itself? I loved it! If a team is going to get a "wake up" game like that, I want it to occur during the preseason, and with a couple weeks left to prepare for the opener. Perfect timing.
I saw an over excited team, trying to do too much as individual pieces. What is needed here is coaching. Thank goodness we have a very good HC. Remember, this is a "Brand New EVERYTHING" team. The wheels came off for a reason. This is where Arians must calm the team down, explain how this happened (with "show and tell") and continue to make ready to eviscerate the Lambs and feast on mutton.
Whenever I lambasted Whiz, I tried not to attack individual players. It is my contention that it falls at the feet of the Head Coach, to turn NFL level talent into a cohesive unit. One that is capable of competing successfully against other units of NFL level talent.
The players are on the Cardinals roster because this HC and this GM selected them to be there. They have a vision of how each player is to fit and how he is to perform. Obviously that did not occur versus San Diego, but that's a good thing. Finally we have a starting point to wittle the roster to 53 and this is serious sh*t! No more wiggle room for half stepping players or Football Follies auditions.
This team will be prepared to open the season with a win or I'll eat my hat! I just do not see BA, at his age, throwing up his hands in dismay. This is where dad takes off his belt and suddenly the boys are all a**holes and elbows trying to straighten up the mess they made. I am expecting BIG things from the 2013 Arizona Cardinals (11-5).
