Cardinals vs. Saints: Offensive snap counts

Chuck Cook-USA TODAY Sports

A look at playing time for the offensive players.

The Arizona Cardinals had only 55 official offensive plays against the New Orleans Saints, a change from the previous two weeks. That meant 58 snaps, according to league stats released to the media.

How was that playing time divvied up? It went more or less as you would expect in many ways.

Carson Palmer and the entire offensive line -- Levi Brown, Daryn Colledge, Lyle Sendlein, Paul Fanaika and Eric Winston -- played all 58 snaps.

Receiver Larry Fitzgerald was on for 57 of the 58 snaps and receiver Michael Floyd was in for 55.

The rest?

The running backs were mostly evenly split in playing time. Andre Ellington got the most at 27, Rashard Mendenhall had 23 snaps, Alfonso Smith 18 and Stepfan Taylor had only one snap. That play was a catch for two yards on third down when the team needed three.

The rest of the receivers, Andre Roberts saw 31 snaps and Jaron Brown eight. Patrick Peterson also saw five offensive plays. Kerry Taylor did not see offensive action.

As for the tight ends, Rob Housler got in 41 snaps for his first game in 2013. Jim Dray saw 17 snaps and Kory Sperry saw five snaps.

Tacke Nate Potter saw two plays -- when she was brought in as an extra tight end.

Is the playing time as you would have expected it? The only things that seem like a surprise was Ellington playing more than Mendenhall and the fact that Jefferson didn't play more.
