The Arizona Cardinals managed to sneak away from Tampa Bay with a 13-10 win over the Buccaneers. Like their win over the Detroit Lions, it was a tale of two halves. Here are some of the numbers from the game.
1 -- The number of third down conversions for the Cardinals. They were 1/10. In their two wins, they are 2/21. They won't win many games if they do that. It is very fluky.
3, 14 -- The number of first downs the Cardinals had in each half. They started out with a measly three in the first half, looking like the 2012 version of the Cardinals. The second half was better. The moved the ball , but had a hard time closing the deal on drives until in the fourth quarter.
13, 7 -- The number of first downs for the Bucs in each half. Like on offense, the defense turned things around.
25:55 -- The Cards' time of possession for the whole game. Obviously, this is a terrible number. It was worse in the first half.
10:23 -- The Cards' time of possession in the first half. Tampa had the ball almost double the time. Using simple math, that means the Cards had the ball 15:32 in the second half. They won time of possession in the second half.
1.7 -- The yards per carry the Cardinals allowed to Doug Martin. He carried the ball 27 times for 45 yards. he was bottled up the entire game. Arizona gave up a total of 80 rushing yards, but 22 of those came on the fake punt run by Dashon Goldson. The defense only gave up 58 yards on 30 carries -- less than two yards per attempt. That is not the rush defense of 2012.
76-59 -- The number of offensive plays for each team. Tampa had almost 80. They only had 253 yards of offense, so they averaged only 3.3 yards per play.
2 -- the number of fumbles (officially) by Rashard Mendenhall. He probably had a third that was not called. Of course, the next play after the non-call was another fumble.
0 -- The number of targets to Larry Fitzgerald in the first half. The second half was a different story, as he was targeted nine times, hauling in six passes for 68 yards and a touchdown.
