Despite missing the final few games, he still is recognized.
Arizona Cardinals safety Tyrann Mathieu did not get to finish the season on the field, as he suffered a knee injury that will sideline him for probably most of the offseason. However, he did enough on the season to be named to the PFWA Football Writers Association's All-Rookie team.
Mathieu got listed as a cornerback, rather than safety.
Mathieu was second on the team in tackles, he had two interceptions and a sack.
Mathieu, though, did not get the defensive rookie of the year, That was for Kiko Alonzo.
Cardinals running back Andre Ellington did not make the squad, as running backs Eddie Lacy and Giovani Benard were chosen by the league's writers.
