3rd String QB Solution is not Ryan Lindley - Another Name Being Rumored

According to unnamed sources the Cardinals have inquired with Kurt Warner as to his availability beginning in Week 14. Week 14 is necessary because Ryan Lindley must stay on the roster for 3 weeks once he was signed off the Chargers practice squad.

Imagine for a moment the media coverage. Imagine the collective minds blown of nearly all Arizona Cardinal fans. Imagine the hysteria. Imagine Kurt Warner as your third string QB for the stretch run to the playoffs. Imagine Kurt at the Superbowl in Glendale, Arizona.

When I heard about this possibility I was thinking this is crazy. Kurt hasn't played in a few years. He retired because he didn't want to risk any more injury. Why would he consider coming back now?

But then again Kurt won't be asked to actually play a snap in the NFL this season. He won't get hit. He won't get injured. Heck he will only need to play for 2 months. Kurt would be the insurance policy. All he needs to do is come in, help the QBs with preparation and in game sideline assistance. Then get sized for another Superbowl ring.

Certainly the fan base has a lot of confidence in Drew Stanton, but if Drew goes down and Logan Thomas becomes the starter the fan base isn't going to be feeling so great about the rest of this season. The team can talk about next man up all they want, but there is a limit. If Logan Thomas goes down and Ryan Lindley becomes the starter, the season is already over. I'm mean come on we've seen that story play out already. No one is coming from another teams practice squad to lead a team to Superbowl champions.

So why not Kurt? It would be a hell of a story.

(This entire post is meant to be comedic. I have no unnamed sources. I don't even have named sources. I just thought it would be hysterical to start the Kurt Warner rumors. Sorry about that.)
