The Cardinals have dodged two bullet in a row. The first was the possible Antonio Cromartie Achilles rupture. He was able to return only four days later and play well.
Then came the Drew Stanton scare. While he is the farthest thing from perfect, he is the closest thing to starting quarterback talent we have. After crumpling under a sack, Stanton hobbled on one leg off to the sideline, and Ryan Lindley came in as relief. The initial fear was a torn ACL, sidelining the quarterback for the rest of the season.
However, multiple media outlets with sources close to the Cardinals and Drew Stanton now say it's an ACL and MCL Grade 2 sprain. The MCL injury is similar to that which sidelined Larry Fitzgerald for two weeks. He is considered a week to week situation.
It is now crucial that the Cardinals secure the #1 seed in the NFC, as Stanton could be out 2-3 weeks. We will see if 2012 Ryan Lindley was just put in a bad situation or if he truly is that bad.
Bruce Arians will meet the media in about an hour (12:15 MST).
