Jay Feely re-signs with the Arizona Cardinals

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

The veteran kicker will be back again.

The Arizona Cardinals re-signed one of their own players, but it wasn't Karlos Dansby. Veteran kicker Jay Feely announced via his Twitter account that he will be returning to the Arizona Cardinals for 2014.

The team has not yet announced the deal, so the details (the length) will not be known until then. The money involved won't be known for a bit either. Speculation is that it could be for the league minimum.

Feely is 37 years old and has played 13 season in the NFL. He played the last four seasons with the Cardinals.

Last season he connected on 30 of 36 field goal attempts and all 37 of his extra point tries.

His leg strength has been in question for some time. Of 86 kickoffs last season, 33 were touchbacks, which was 24th in the league among kickers. His kicks averaged 66.4 yards, which was the second highest average in his career, surpassed only in 2011, when he averaged 67.8 yards per kickoff.  Opponents began their drives at the 24.5 on average.

Feely joins Danny Hrapmann on the roster. As of now, it is not known whether the team will add another to compete for the job.

Feely becomes the only other potential unrestricted free agent for Arizona to re-sign. Punter Dave Zastudil, who re-signed in January for two seasons,  was the other.
