We are one week away from the start of the 2014 NFL Draft. Evaluations are done and big boards are set. It's time to name names.
List the guys you want to see the Cards draft in the 1st and 2nd rounds. For bonus credit, list the guys that would make you scream 'Why Keim, Why?"
These are your opinions. There are no right or wrong answers. I only included prospects that I think have a reasonable expectation to be available at the Cards draft position. If someone like Barr or Lewan falls, I reserve the right to flush this list and grab them instead.
1st round, pick 20, Want
Derek Carr, QB, Fresno State: QBoTF
Ryan Shazier, Defensive Weapon, Ohio State: Speed, versatility, production, would never leave the field.
RaShede Hageman, DT, Minnesota: Athletic monster on the DL, could play all 3 positions
Kyle Fuller,CB, Virginia Tech: Good size and length, could play both man and zone, even slip over to safety at times.
Zack Martin, OL, Notre Dame: Could play either RG or RT and help finish solidifying the OL.
1st round, pick 20, Make me scream
Johnny Manziel, QB, Texas A&M: Huge distraction, too many times he would pull the ball down and run when he has a primary open almost to the point where it looks like he wants to turn a routine play into a miracle highlight.
Round 2, pick 52, Want
Demarcus Lawrence, DE/OLB, Boise State: Pass rush
Jeremiah Attaocho, OLB, Georgia Tech: Pass rush
Marcus Smith, DE/OLB, Louisville: Pass rush
Scott Crichton, DE, Oregon State: Replacement for Dockett.
JuWann James, RT, Tennessee: Complete the OL
Deone Bucannon, S, Washignton State: Big thumper in the mold of A. Wilson. Needs some work in coverage though. Won't solve the TE coverage issue. Better coverage safeties here could be Ward or Brooks.
Round 2, pick 52, Make me scream
Keith McGill or Stanley Jean-Baptiste, just because they are 6'3" doesn't mean they can cover NFL receivers.
There's my list of wants and dislikes. Make your picks below and go on the record and own them. Let's see what everyone thinks. Remember, there are no right or wrong picks here.
