2014 NFL Draft: Arizona Cardinals get DE Kareem Martin

Scott Halleran

They add to their already strong defensive line.

After filling their safety void in the first round with Deone Bucannon and addressing the tight end position with Troy Niklas in the second round, the Arizona Cardinals went with defensive line help. They took North Carolina defensive end Kareem Martin with the 84th overall pick in the draft, the first of two third round picks that the Cardinals have.

Martin logged 82 total tackles in 2013, including 11.5 sacks and 21.5 tackles for a loss. He is 6-5, 272 pounds.

The question is which side of the defensive line he will play. Is he going to be groomed to replace Darnell Dockett, or will he be general depth, backing up Calais Campbell, another very tall lineman.

Jesse Reynolds targeted him as one of 15 prospects to watch, writing this:

This is my sleeper pick, he reminds me of a young Calais Campbell. He is big at 6-6, and because of his size struggles when he loses the leverage battle to lineman but when he wins he can blow up tackles. I would love to get this guy as I see him as an immediate heir-apparent to Darnell Dockett.

What do you  think, Cardinals fans?
