The Arizona Cardinals got a ton of defensive playing time on Sunday against the Detroit Lions. There were a whopping 95 defensive snaps. Because of that and a big lead late in the game, lots of guys got playing time.
Let's see how it played out.
Defensive backs: Jerraud Powers, 94; Patrick Peterson, 94; Tyrann Mathieu, 93; Rashad Johnson, 92; Deone Bucannon 85; Tony Jefferson, 72; Justin Bethel, 18; Chris Clemons, 2
I don't recall the play when Powers and Peterson left the game. Mathieu came out two plays to be looked at after getting upended. Bethel got a lot more time than normal.
Linebackers: Kevin Minter, 86; Alex Okafor, 54; Markus Golden, 43; Kareem Martin, 35; LaMarr Woodley, 35; Alani Fua, 9
It has been noted Sean Weatherspoon was inactive, We will see if that continues with Kenny Demens out for the season. Will he play special teams? Will they promote Gabe Martin instead? Kareem Martin got a lot of time. He is the player to get more playing time with Okafor out. Of course, we will see how much Dwight Freeney plays right out the gate, but he figures to have the Markus Golden role -- come in for pass rushing situations only.
Defensive linemen: Calais Campbell, 51; Rodney Gunter, 44; Frostee Rucker, 43; Josh Mauro, 32; Cory Redding, 32; Ed Stinson, 31
With all the snaps, no starters played more than normal, except maybe Gunter. They rotated out a lot of players.
