The talk late in the week was how Arizona Cardinals running back Andre Ellington would be able to play on Sunday against the St. Louis Rams. The inactive list for the Cardinals is now out and things have changed. Ellington is inactive and, as such, will not play. That means another week of rest and a full load for veteran Chris Johnson, as well as a little bit more of rookie David Johnson, who has shown some flashes of greatness early in the season.
Aside from Ellington, perhaps the surprise of the list is veteran guard Ted Larsen, who started the first three weeks of the season in place of Mike Iupati. Iupati is now ready to play and Larsen is not needed for today. Arizona still has Earl Watford and A.Q Shipley on the bench, both of whom can play guard. Shipley is the backup center, as well.
The rest of the list is not surprising:
QB Matt Barkley
WR J.J. Nelson
RB Andre Ellington
OLB Shaq Riddick
G Ted Larsen
T D.J. Humphries
NT Xavier Williams
The Rams' list is not surprising:
QB Sean Mannion
S Maurice Alexander
RB Chase Reynolds
DE Eugene Sims
T Darrell Williams
T Andrew Donnal
St. Louis has only six players on their inactive list because they only have 52 players on the 53-man roster currently, following the trade of WR Chris Givens to the Baltimore Ravens.
