With their first two picks in the NFL Draft, the Arizona Cardinals added offensive line help and a pass rusher. In the third round, the Cardinals went with the running back, selecting Northern Iowa's David Johnson with the 86th overall pick in the draft.
Head coach Bruce Arians said before the draft he wanted a big and fast running back to complement Andre Ellington. At 6-1 and 224 pounds with a 4.5-sec 40-yard dash, Arians gets exactly what he was seeking.
Johnson rushed for 1553 yards and 17 touchdowns in 2014, rushing for over 100 yards in seven games. He rushed for nearly 1300 in 2013 and for over 1000 in 2012.
He also had 38 receptions for 536 yards and two more scores and caught at least 30 passes all four of his seasons at Northern Iowa.
What do you think of the pick? Jay Ajayi was on the board still, as was David Cobb. Is this who they should have gotten?
